76% of Americans consider their pets part of the family. Gone are the days when pets lived outside and had fleas. Our pets have moved into our homes and we have closer relationships with them. Veterinary care has evolved too and is now similar to human health care. Pet owners have high expectations about the care their pets receive and when they lose their pet they grieve the same as if they lost a human member of the family. That’s when a veterinary social worker is crucial.
