SUMMARY:
At Boston University, students are piloting a new VR training technology that allows doctors and social worker trainees to meet patients through a roleplay in a simulated hospital environment. By putting on these headsets and assuming an animated avatar, these doctors- and social workers-to-be can review patient data and questionnaires together to provide the correct resources to their patients. Experiencing these roleplay scenarios prepare students to participate in real-life interdisciplinary work, as doctors and social workers are expected to collaborate in authentic medical settings.
